Here is a great post that details the specifics of link spamming. Every webmaster at one time or another has opened up their traffic stat page to see where there visitors are coming from and seen a URL they don’t recognize. Don’t click it. These are being sent by people hoping to fool people into tracing it backwards. Once there, the computer can become victim to spyware or some other form of malware.

Stay alert and ignore link spammers.
