Check out this great find… ReadTheWords allows you to type in text (or import it a variety of other ways) and then it converts the text to speech and plays it back for you. A quick example is found below. This has many great uses, it can be used for podcasting, providing an audio version of your blogposts, or just to make an interesting welcome to your site. Best of all, is that it is free. Really deserves being checked out.
Here is a great new take on a niche search engine, it’s called Twing (Twing.com). Twing allows you to type in what it is you’re searching for and then it performs that search only on online forums and message boards. This is a great way to see what people may be saying about you, your site, or an issue you care a great deal about. You can search by post, topic, or forum and the results are brought back for you. An interesting idea in search engine technology.
One note for those of you with forums, you may want to check Twing out and make sure that your forum is coming back in the search results.
Check out Picnik.com and see what this free online photo editor can do for you. Works great for some quick editing touches you may need when it isn’t convenient to use the photo editing software you have on your computer. Many more options than just fade, color, and red-eye reduction. Very useful in today’s world!

A few words about submitting your site to online directories…
While directory submission isn’t viewed by most as one of the big ways to drive traffic to your site that it once was, it can still be a valuable way to get incoming links pointed your way. Before spending big money on paid directories that claim they have nice page rank, check out the page rank of the pages your listing will actually be placed on. If the directory’s home page is a PR7 but the page where your link is placed will be a PR3, you may not want to pay PR7 prices for that. Also, don’t forget to occasionally submit your site to directories that carry no page rank at all. Remember, these may be the PR2,3,4, or 5 directories of the future.
Here are a couple of free directories accepting submissions:
